Symetra Select Pro & Select Max
A MYGA from Symetra · reviewed from official materials, July 2026
Symetra's MYGA pair: one guaranteed-rate core, split by a single trade — Select Max adds an MVA and tighter liquidity for a typically higher rate.
The decoder
Reading the quote
One guaranteed rate — choose your liquidity trade
Both products lock one interest rate for a 3-, 5-, or 7-year period on the same base contract. The fork: Select Pro has no MVA and allows 15% free withdrawals per year (plus an optional guaranteed return-of-purchase-payment endorsement); Select Max adds a bond-index-linked MVA and limits free withdrawals to accumulated interest — the structure that usually buys the higher quote. Symetra does not publish current rates online at all: "For current interest rate information, please contact your financial professional."
The pair is a textbook menu of the MYGA design space: identical rate mechanics, with liquidity and adjustment risk dialed differently. Select Pro suits buyers who may need meaningful access mid-term; Select Max suits buyers certain they will hold to the end of the period and want the extra rate for saying so.
Both renew annually after the guarantee period at rates floored by the contract minimum, and both offer nursing-home and terminal-illness charge waivers in most states. As with every MYGA, the quoted rate is genuinely comparable to a payment stream's estimated yield — the honest matchup our MYGA decoder walks through.

The comparison
Against a payment stream
The cleanest comparison in the family: both quote a real rate on a fixed obligation. The MYGA keeps principal accessible (with penalties) and guaranty-association cover; the payment stream typically quotes a meaningfully higher effective yield, locked for the life of the schedule, without the account value or the guaranty net. It is a genuine risk-for-yield trade, and it should be made knowingly.
The family mechanics are covered in our MYGA decoder; what the secondary market pays right now is on the current estimated yields page. And because Symetra also stands behind payment streams we list, its role as an issuer is profiled on our Symetra carrier page.
